EDUCATION
Workshops
& Presentations
Education is at the heart of all we do. We offer a broad range of workshops to schools, organisations and groups wanting to explore performing arts, screen acting and post-production.

sCene
Acting for Screen Workshop
As an actor or crew member you have to maintain your fitness. This means consistent training, working both in front and behind the camera and always finding inspiration working alongside others.
sCene Work – Acting for Screen gives actors, directors and crew the opportunity to work one on one, workshop in groups and build a sCene to be produced on location. The sCene is then taken through post-production with the Dream Big Team to ensure that the viewing on the big screen looks and sounds the best it can.
The Dream Big Team aims to utilise local and national scripts from writers creating material that is relevant. We provide a set of guidelines that focus on creating two or three hander scripts that focus on showcasing the actors abilities. The writers who have participated see their work come to life and it inspires them to continue to develop the project to be realised.
Acting technique and coaching is run by Creative Director Daniel Betty. Daniel has a broad range of skills as an actor, director, coach and educator. He believes in finding the actors’ truth and building effective, dynamic characters that engage with audiences. He works to select characters that will extend the actor and works alongside them to build a character. This enables self reflection and discussion directly with the actor to become more aware of self through the process to be able to release these tensions to build confidence in performance.
Directors and crew are supported by James Cleary who is a seasoned writer/director. James has worked on a number of productions in Australia like The Matrix, Moulin Rouge and Star Wars. He is about to release his first feature film Solitary which will hit cinemas this year. James assists in pre-production to ensure that the Dream Big Team are effectively capturing the scene, works alongside the team to capture the sCene and also provides post-production support to ensure the piece is ready for the cinema.
sCene Work – Acting for Screen is a great way to build skills, meet like-minded people and develop an understanding of the screen industry. You will participate in 4 face to face workshops, 3 online workshops and one on one meetings over a 10 week period. We then take time to ensure the sCenes are ready to be filmed and you will be allocated a date and time on the weekends outlined below. Please ensure that you can make all dates to get the best experience.
There will be three classes operating this year: Youth (12 – 17), Actor (first time), Advanced (completed Actor course). We will only be taking 10 in the youth, 20 in the Actor and 20 in the Advanced
The cost of the course covers venue hire and training fees and resources for the Dream Big Team. If you would like support or to break payments up over time please speak to our team and we will assist where we can. The overall cost per participant is $450.00

ACTING TECHNIQUE
Acting Workshop
Acting Technique is fundamental to ensuring an actor is provided with a broad range of skills to access when required. This workshop will look at energy work through Laban, connection through Meisner and the actors craft through Stanislavski. The Dream Big Team will guide you through this practical experience and provide a number of short scripts to activate throughout.
This workshop can be tailored for your group, ensemble or organisation to ensure what you require out of it can be brought to the forefront.
The workshop will be delivered by a highly experienced actor/educator that will be able to engage, inspire and challenge your group to push themselves, explore together and gain confidence in the power of performance.
It is recommended that the workshop be delivered in two parts of up to 2.5 hours each. This will ensure techniques can be explored and extended upon in the second session. If your time is limited we can deliver in a 3 hour period. The cost is $350.00 and our team will come to you.

BUILDING CHARACTER
Acting Workshop
As an actor building a character is part of showing an audience that you, the actor, are playing a role. How you portray this person and why you decide to use physical or mental techniques will determine the impression you leave with an audience.
Building a Character will take you through a broad range of activities that will explore devising characters and or analysing scripted characters. The Dream Big Team work from an activity they call ‘The Baseline’ which enables the actor to understand their personal characteristics will always influence the choices they make as characters. As we extend upon this actors will become aware of personal characteristics and the points of difference which are their characters. These discoveries assist the actor to build confidence in their choices as they discover new aspects of their character.
This workshop could be specific to a production or a task that you are working towards as an individual, a group or organisation. The Dream Big Team is able to adapt as required to meet your needs. We encourage two workshops at 2.5 hours each to ensure that we are able to cover a broad range of activities to assist actors to understand concepts and put them into action. A minimum time would be 3 hours for the workshop. The cost is $350 and our team will come to you.
