sCene Work - Time to get fit

Overview

This workshop is for actors wanting to enhance their skills in acting for screen. It provides insight into script analysis, acting techniques, building connections, building a scene, online support and workshops to develop depth with the director.

Actors will work online with a partner and acting coach to establish a piece. You will be given a scene of work that the director/acting coach believes will highlight your skill set. You will come together with other groups to work on skills and scenes at identified dates below.

There will be three groups so you can work with likeminded participants. These will be age related. Group 1, will be 18 and under, Group 2, 18 and over and Group 3, will be for experienced actors. The experienced actors will only be for up to 10 participants. A photo shoot will be provided for each actor and can be arranged with our photographer at a time that suits. These images can be added to your portfolio or support building your profile.

The course is facilitated by Dream Big Creative, Director Daniel Betty. He has a broad range of skill sets and has been working in the industry for over 20 years. He continues to work professionally as an actor, acting coach, casting, producer, director and musician. He identifies as a creative and brings his full being to any project. He will guide participants to be the best they can be for each sCene.

The course will also provide the opportunity for guest tutors to work alongside you and enhance skills. This provides an opportunity to draw skills to our region. You must be available to attend all workshops and commit to filming dates below. There is enough time to plan in advance so we ask you consider this closely before applying.

The Details

When: Starts 15 September and finishes once filmed
Where: Amorangi, Kahurangi Maori Dance Theatre Company (706 Albert Street, Hastings)
Cost: $350plus GST ($402.50)
Group size: There will be three different group with a maximum of 12 in each.
Online: TBC – as we start building partnerships. Will happen on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening
Workshops: All workshops will be from 2.00 – 5.00pm.

Filming
Under 18 – To film on the 9/10 November.
Over 18 – The weekend of the 23/24 November July. You will be given a time and location for this shoot on one of the weekend days and must be available.
Experienced Actors – The weekend of the 7/8 December. You must be able to travel to Hawke’s Bay for the weekend. If you need accomodation we can assist in getting you billeted. You will be given a time closer to the shoot.
